To Search for a Specific Phrase:
Place search words within quotation
marks. For example: "no deposit credit card" (within "quotes") would find
only pages that contain the full phrase no deposit credit card.
Including or excluding words:
To make sure that a specific word is always included in your search topic, place the plus (+) symbol before the key word in the search box. To make sure that a specific word is always excluded from your search topic, place a minus (-) sign before the keyword in the search box.
Example: To find a credit card other than Visa, type in
credit card -Visa. To find a credit card by MasterCard, type in credit
card +mastercard. To find a platinum credit card but not a gold credit
card, type in credit card +platinum -gold.
Expand your search using wildcards (*):
By typing an * at the end of a keyword, you can search for the word with multiple endings.
Example: If you type in gov* (with an asterisk), you will be shown
pages containing various endings for gov, such govt, govern and government.
Another example: refi* will show pages that contain the words
refinance, refinanced and refinancing.
Alternative Search Strategies:
text:text
Finds pages that contain the specified text in any part of the page other than an image tag, link, or URL.
For example, if you type in text:loan you will be shown all pages with the term
loan in them.
title:text
Finds pages that contain the specified word or phrase in the page title (which appears in the title bar of most browsers). The search
title:auto would find pages with auto in the title.
url:text
Finds pages with a specific word or phrase in the URL. Use url:budget to find all pages on
our site that have the word budget in the URL.
