Chase Direct Benefit Card
By Credit Federal | Published 03/6/2006

Chase now offers a pre-paid debit card that will help low-income tax filers who do not have bank accounts to receive faster tax refunds.

The Chase Direct Benefit Card allows taxpayers to get their refund deposited to a debit card instead of waiting for a check through the mail.  This also eliminates check cashing fees and offers the convenice of using a debit card to make retail puchases and to use ATM machines.

The debit card is particularly for people who qualify for refunds under the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC).

The tax refund is available to recipients as soon as the IRS deposits the EITC refunds electronically. The Chase Direct Benefit Card is protected by a Personal Identification Number (PIN), but may also be used for signature-based purchases at Visa retail locations where a PIN is not required. In addition to avoiding check-cashing fees, there are no late fees, minimum balances required or credit checks and the accounts are fully FDIC insured. Overdrafts are also not a concern, since cardholders can purchase or withdraw only up to the amount on deposit at the time of a transaction.

Browse Chase Credit Card offers at Credit Federal and submit your online application.
