Best Credit Card Deal Gone Bad
By Credit Federal | Published 04/13/2009
Chase; considered by many to have offered one of the best credit card deals for people carrying a large balance, has reneged on an agreement and upset card members.

Some Chase credit card members are suing the company for failure to fulfill promises. A few years ago, the company offered a Chase balance transfer credit card which promised a low rate for the life of the balance as long as the credit card remained in good standing. However, Chase soon reneged on that deal and added a monthly fee and more than doubling the minimum payment required. When cardholders called to inquire about their agreed deal, Chase offered to eliminate the fee and minimum payment but only if the cardholder agreed to a higher interest rate.

This past February a class-action lawsuit was filed against Chase over the change in terms. If you agreed to a balance transfer promotion and subsequently had a monthly payment or higher minimum payment imposed on you, you may also participate in the law suit. The class action attorneys are Girard Gibbs.

According to MSNBC, Chase has already agreed to end the $10 monthly fee and refund $3.3 million in fees to 300,000 customers. New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo says the change will allow consumers to save up to $22 million over the next year.
