Fastest Tax Refund
By Credit Federal | Published 03/5/2009
Here is how to get the absolute fastest tax refund, each and every year.

Enjoy free online tax filing.

The fastest refund of all, is to not overpay taxes in the first place. Adjust your W2 to accurately reflect your number of dependents and your filing status.

Are you due a refund, or do you typically qualify for refunds every year? Tax payers may feel great when the IRS says a refund is due, but the fact is you're giving the government an interest free loan. Do you get approved for no interest loans? Chances are you don’t unless it is for a short introductory period. Why would you want to loan your money to the government in the way of over paying taxes just so to get a refund? Why not keep your money and use it for yourself, such as letting it earn interest in a savings account?

Another problem can be if you “Under Pay” the government and then get charged an “Under Payment Penalty” – which is something that must be taken into consideration when trying to keep more of your check in your pocket instead of over paying the government to get a refund.

Then there is “Taxable Income” and this means that not every dollar of your income is taxed at the same rate. What this means is the first dollar you make is taxed at a lower rate than the last dollar earned or rather at which the highest (or last) portion of your income is taxed. Taxable income is your AGI minus exemptions and deductions and the less your taxable income, the less in taxes you'll owe. This looks like a case of do I want to make less and pay less or be rich and pay more taxes. This may only prove it helps to have a good tax accountant to understand taxes.

Filing tax returns is another task at hand. Tax returns are filed by April 15 and if taxes are owed, be sure to pay them or you could receive a late payment penalty. If an extension is filed, it allows you to file a return after the due date but a payment that is due is required by April 15. If a partial payment is paid, interest can be charged on the balance due. Consider also that tax audits may be reduced when tax returns are filed completely, correctly, and filed on time.

All of this information may only make taxes more or less understood. In the case of over paying the government so a refund can be expected, it can worth a tax payer’s time to ask the tax person to look over tax returns and make a suggestion as to how much should be taken out of your checks so you can hold on to more of your money each month and spend it on bills or frills instead of letting the government just sit on it for you and send it in the form of a “Refund”.
