Visa Helps Students Start Small Business
By Credit Federal | Published 06/5/2006

The National Federation of Independent Business' Young Entrepreneur Foundation partners Visa USA to provide an online curriculum to teach young, potential entrepreneurs the basics of how to start a business.

The launch is a result of a Visa USA/NFIB survey in which many teachers and guidance counselors claim students don't know where to start.

From the survey, 90% of teachers and guidance counselors say their high school students have expressed an interest in becoming their own boss.

75% of those teachers think students don't know where to turn for assistance, and 74% say their schools do not offer instruction and that it should be provided.

Using the Visa / NFIB curriculum, teachers can educate future students on how to write a business plan, obtain funding and interact with business related agencies.

Teachers can download the free program from both Visa's Practical Money Skills for Life financial education program, www.practicalmoneyskills.com; and the NFIB Young Entrepreneur Foundation's Entrepreneur-in-the-Classroom programs, www.nfib.com/object/IO_27244.html.
