Consumer Credit News, by CreditFederal.com: The consumer confidence index rose to 109.6, which means Americans will be more likely to spend and to obtain lines of credit.

While this is certainly a good sign for the U.S. economy, CreditFederal.com warns consumers about getting into a bad credit situation caused by debt.

"The best time to obtain a personal loan or credit card," says CreditFederal.com, "is when you have good, not bad credit. With bad credit, you pay more in interest."

To gain and maintain a good credit score, requires proof of a low risk to lenders and creditors. Revolving credit, such as credit cards, are a good way to prove ability to repay debt.

"Before obtaining new credit," advises CreditFederal.com, "focus on ways to change bad credit to good to get the best rate for a personal loan or credit card."
