Credit Card Default and Debt Relief other than Chargeoff
It seems like the credit card complications are still simmering and credit card deliquencies are still rising. Subprime mortgages are still struggling with more serious problems.

Concerns are already starting about credit issues and what could come next and the question has been posed about which may fall first, the credit card companies or the auto industry.

Predictions are that credit card defaults will double from the five percent average for the past ten years. This could be over 18 billion the first quarter and end with over 90 billion at the end of the year according to analyst. American Express is becoming a bank-holding company to be able to get funds and be in the seven hundred billion bailout. Many companies are getting their share of pressures.

The credit card industry's problems may have been brewing the last few years. Consumer statements often reflect problems in advance. Consumers may be in debt due to over spending, medical problems, job loss, and even divorce. Credit card balances have increased two thirds since 1999 but salaries have barely increased.

Higher fuel bills and gas increases have added to already burdened families who can't get loans due to stricter requirements of having higher credit scores. Securities that use to be sold to investors are now harder to sell. It is now that some consumers need money the most and they are unable to get loans.

The mortgage crisis has far more problems than the credit card industry and the effects of the mortgage crisis has more serious consequences.

Credit card companies are able to reduce credit limits and close accounts to reduce risks. Consumers unfortunately can't stop these actions that could affect their credit scores. The economic woes must be weathered by all, and consumers must monitor their personal credit even more. Many hope they keep their jobs to prevent added financial burdens during this economic crisis.

If you have more credit card debt than you can repay, you can chargeoff a percentage of the balance by negotiating a debt settlement and then paying off the settled amount in full. To preserve as much of your credit score as possible; and if you don't have the cash for a lump sum settlement payoff, you may instead want to consider credit counseling to lower monthly payments.
