Free Tips to Survive Credit Crisis VS Filing Bankruptcy
In 2005 bankruptcy laws were changed for filing bankruptcy. The requirements were changed because of lenders complaining that many people were abusing the system. Before the tougher laws were in effect many consumers hurried to file bankruptcy. In 2006 after the new laws were active, there were less than 700,000 bankruptcies filed.

Since 2007 the bankruptcies filed are close to one million - just as they were before the new laws took effect. With the credit problems, bankruptcy has been escalating again despite the hard requirements. This new rise in filings may be a warning sign that the economy is in worse condition. Predictions are that the economy may not begin to recover until early 2010, so bankruptcy lawers may be working overtime.

Reports that credit card companies have doubled or tripled interest rates have some consumers monitoring all statements carefully. Consumers do not have many choices to counter act interest rate increases. There are pros and cons to choosing an Opt-Out solution. Some consumers feel an Opt-Out choice may lower credit scores. If this is the case, it is better to pay off a balance even with the higher interest rate.

Credit card companies have been reducing credit limits on consumers who have been customers for years. Good customers who never got a late notice have experienced credit limit reductions. This can have drastic effects for a business owner who needs a high credit limit to conduct business. It would be wise to frequently check your credit limit before making a charge.

Failures to pay back loans continues to be a problem and banks are still limiting loans to consumers. Without a super credit score it can be more difficult to get a loan or a credit card. It is important to not risk loosing a credit card account.

Consumers with high credit card debt must make sure the minimum due is paid each month. Those who have lost jobs must make sure the credit card company is notified to make payment arrangements or lower the required minimum due. If you need to apply for a credit card, apply for one that fits your credit type.

Check credit scores before seeking a loan or a credit card in case they are too low to be approved. Consider taking time to build scores and increase chances of getting approved. If debt is out of control seek credit counseling fast before high late fees are added making debts more out of control.
