Equifax Credit Report Locking and Unlocking
The Equifax Credit Report Bureau has received excellent customer reviews about its control to protect againts identity theft.

Equifax customers who purchase its Equifax Credit Watch(TM) credit monitoring products can lock and unlock their Equifax credit file through an Internet based credit monitoring account. This process can help prevent new lines of credit from being opened without permission.  In the first four months, more than 50 percent of new credit monitoring customers have signed up for Equifax Credit Watch with the new CRC feature.

More than 600 Equifax customers participated in an online survey and the majority responded that the ability to lock and unlock their credit file in real time ranked as the top reason for owning the product.  In fact, 72 percent of those customers would recommend Equifax Credit Watch with CRC to others and are satisfied with the product.

"Consumers are quickly discovering that monitoring their credit combined with the ability to lock and unlock their Equifax credit file is the best way to protect themselves from the effects of identity theft," said Steve Ely, president, Equifax Personal Information Solutions. "We are very pleased that consumers are recognizing that this level of protection is superior to other alternatives in the market."

More than 8 out of 10 Equifax Credit Watch customers are concerned about the effects of identity theft, and nearly 6 out of 10 either have been identity theft victims or know someone who has been a victim.

Equifax Credit Watch with Credit Report Control is offered for $14.95 a month for Equifax Credit Watch(TM) Gold with 3-in-1 Monitoring. Credit Report Control is available with all Equifax Credit Watch products, or can be added to an existing Credit Watch membership, for just $2 a month.
