Save More By Spending Less - Free Tips
When it comes to saving money or spending it, your parents had already given you the wisdom to make wiser decisions. Think about it...

"Just because your friend wears a new pair of designer jeans every week, doesn't mean you also have to..."

This gem of wisdom is about keeping up with others, at the cost of your hard-earned income. And, just because a friend; or neighbor, drives a better car than you, does not automatically mean that person makes more money than you nor that the person better manages funds. It could actually mean that person is living one-step above what they can actually afford and may soon face a long road to financial recovery. Although it's nice to have 'new things', you don't necessarily have to buy the most expensive. You can purchase; for example, a quality pair of slacks at a reasonable cost, and one that lasts longer (and/or remains in fashion longer) than other slacks.

"Go shopping? I just gave you your allowance - Is it already burning a whole in your pocket?..."

This wise interrogatory helps remind us about the need to save money in addition to spending it wisely. Too often, even before we get our hands on extra, bonus cash, we already have a purchase in mind. We need to change that mentality, and already know how we want to 'save' or 'invest' extra, bonus cash.

"I bought you a new pair of sneakers just last month..."

This chastisement reminds us of our need to take care of what we have, to make it last, so we don't have to waste additional funds on replacements.

"You paid $7.50 for a breakfast?..."

Even for things we need, it's still possible to save money by cutting costs. Why purchase something for ten dollars when you can get it for six dollars? Bagging your lunch instead of eating daily at a cafe is one example of cutting costs.

"You don't appreciate the value of money, because you didn't have to earn it!..."

That declaration alone should be the one thought that runs through your mind every time you pull out your wallet, open your purse or whip out your credit card.
