How to Save - Get Control of Finances

Personal Finances and Planning

When a monthly income is a fixed amount, then finances can't be left to chance. It is important not to over spend at a whim only to end up short of money for debts that must be paid every month.

For example if you have a monthly income of $1,000.00 and you must pay a car note, gas for your car, mortgage or rent, utilities, food, clothing, and medical bills every month. When there is not a budget or set amount to spend in each of these areas, it could be easy to over spend to buy an expensive piece of clothing or too much junk food - including eating out during the week.

By making a financial budget, you can set a goal for spending in each of these areas as a means to save more money. This is very important when there is only so much money to spend each month. After all, we can't print the extra money we need, so we must stretch our finances and spend wisely in all areas. We must live within our means.

How do you get control of finances to start saving money? First you must know how much money is spent every month. Where does it go, who gets it, how much money is unaccounted for or wasted every month? It is surprising how many people never examine where they spend money and many say, "I don't know where all the money goes". It is time to gain control of your finances and don't leave spending money to chance. Know when to spend, how much to spend, and then you can make a plan to save!

By knowing your weakness you can set goals and be on your way to a more stress free financial living!
