MasterCard and Chinatrust Commercial Bank offer a MasterCard PayPass Contactless Payment feature on a soccer-themed wrist watch.
MasterCard International in conjunction with Chinatrust Commercial Bank, launch of the world's first wrist watch equipped with MasterCard PayPass. MasterCard PayPass is a contactless payment feature that does not need to be 'swiped' in the traditional manner of a credit card, and hence provides consumers with a fast and convenient alternative to cash for their everyday small purchases.
The watch has been created in collaboration with Chinatrust, one of the largest credit card issuers in Taiwan, LAKS GmbH, a well-known Austrian watchmaker and On Track Innovations Ltd., a global leader in contactless microprocessor-based smart card solutions. It has a sporty exterior that showcases soccer ball images on its face and will be offered to consumers in green, blue and orange.
Users simply tap their watch on a PayPass reader at participating merchants to conduct a purchase transaction.
Consumers with the Chinatrust 2006 FIFA World Cup MasterCard PayPass watch will also receive exclusive privileges:
