Fear of continued escalating gas prices and poor sales may push automakers into offer auto loan incentives.

DaimlerChrysler's Chrysler announced zero percent (0%) auto financing for many models, which include the Dodge Ram truck.

Ford Motor Credit has also offered 5 year interest free loans on some SUVs, whiche includes the Explorer and Mountaineer.

GM will offer $1,000 toward the purchase of a new car or truck, as well as interest free loans of up to six years on 2006 models of full-size SUVs such as the Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban and the GMC Yukon.

GM buyers can also break purchase or lease contracts that expire before April 30, 2007.

The offers, which will run through July 5, follow a 4% drop in auto sales for Chrysler, a 3% drop at Ford, and a 7% drop at GM.

With gas prices at $3 a gallon in many areas, some automakers are offering rebates in the form of free gasoline cards. GM is offering a $1,000 fuel card with any new 2006 or 2007 Chevrolet and GMC vehicles equipped with FlexFuel technology in the Chicago-Rockford and Minneapolis-St. Paul markets through July 31.
